I have been working at an insurance agency and have been in charge of managing social media content. Recently, we have been trying to spread the word about cyber liability. I sent out an email blast to all customers and we correlated how often data breaches happen to the need for cyber liability. Some clients replied inquiring about it. I then took the idea to Facebook and did some research about the number of data breaches in 2019. With that info it will encourage people to buy cyber liability. Real-life events can be a great marketing strategy to help spread awareness for the need for a product or service.

Marketing News & Reflections
I think social media can be a great tool to be able to advertise a product at a low cost. Although, recently Instagram would like to remove the likes, and some celebrities have brought a new perspective to the potential change. People are afraid that when followers cannot see how many likes they are, the follower might be less likely to buy that product. It’s the idea that if you see 10k people like this product, you will most likely get it. I thought the like change was to prevent teens and users from comparing themselves and striving for approval by “likes”.
I also thought about a time Khloe Kardashian advertises this flat tummy tea which from stories is not that good for you, I haven’t done my research for this product, but that’s how she makes her money. But people are judging her for promoting a product that she most likely doesn’t use but wants her followers to use to lose weight? It’s a contradicting thought.

Another post about social media and marketing. Most Instagram users may know that Instagram would like to get rid of the likes display. When I first heard this on the news, it was geared towards mental health and how young kids feel worthy based on likes. Some celebrities believe Instagram is doing this to prevent this free platform to market. If users can’t see that 10million people like Kylie Jenner’s eye shadow, will they buy it? That was my thought. But here is an article that perceived the dilemma from a different perspective. Read it and weep :)

In relation to market segmentation. She provides products for a certain group of clients; individuals who like makeup, interested in skincare products, or a fan of the celebrity.

Marketing Personal Experiences
November 3rd, 2019:
On Saturday I went to a craft fair. Some of the people advertising and selling their products had some poor sales pitches. One gentleman told me that one particular product really is only $3 dollars but due to packaging that costs $15 dollars, the price for that product is high. Now I wouldn't want to buy that product if I am mostly paying for packaging that will eventually just get thrown away in the trash. When I was looking at some jewelry with my friend, the lady told us that she lets her kids or students wear jewelry. I first that was unsanitary but also the wear and tear that goes on the jewelry from kids wearing it. I thought their speeches prevented me from buying their products. Poor marketing I think on their part.
December 1st, 2019:
Two Friday's ago I went and looked at used cars to start my process of hopefully trading in my Jeep. I first would like to mention that it takes a certain individual to be a car salesman and someone who knows how to work their market. The salesman was determined to sell me on a lease deal and told me that lease deals change month to month. The idea that the deal i could get today may be gone next month, was one way to draw me in to the lease deal. When looking at the used cars, he made sure to add that "the CarFax doesn't list EVERYTHING on the car" another reason why I should lease. The last comment he made which I thought was rather odd was when I asked about any black Friday deals. He immediately thought I was trying to work a deal on him but I was rather just simply have a conversation as I was in no rush to put down money and sign papers that night. I think the Car market takes on a whole new experience of buying and consumerism due to the stakes and commission rates. My sister and I thought maybe he makes more money if he were to sell us a lease deal. Either way, the car market is a very tricky market to feel comfortable in.

On black Friday my friend and I were black Friday shopping and at Bath and Body Works. The deal was buy 3 get 3 free and recently they were selling all their products for $4.95 each. I thought we bought them at $10 each make the deal pretty much the same but the price was $12 for each bottle. My friend did the math and we would have saved $12 dollars if we bought our products over the weekend then over black Friday.
